UPCOMINGS
“Pennsylvania State CCO
With the remnants of Ernesto finally gone, the rain stopped and 32 cooks came out to KClinger's Tavern in Hanover for the 2006 Pennsylvania State CCO on September 3rd. Dedicated chili cooks came from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and New Jersey to participate in the 11th installment of this Pennsylvania Labor Day tradition. In addition to the Pennsylvania State CCO, there was a freestyle chili competition with 45 entries, and a salsa competition with 20 entries. Despite the slightly soggy conditions, the event once again drew a large crowd who enjoyed the many chilis and salsas available for sampling, as well as the popular local bands playing on the stage.
The top 3 placing Pennsylvania residents are -
11th - Krista Ziegenfuss, Hanover PA - 1st time cook
8th - Mary Criollo, Hanover PA
6th - Jeff Ziegenfuss, Hanover PA - 1st time cook
The complete results are -
11th - Krista Ziegenfuss, Hanover PA
10th - Phil Martinek, Fallston MD
9th - Chris Liersemann, Parkville MD
8th - Mary Criollo, Hanover PA
7th - Ghon Eckley, Frederick MD
6th - Jeff Ziegenfuss, Hanover PA
5th - Brian Smith, Pylesville MD
4th - Jen Windsor, Baltimore MD
3rd - John Iaquinta, Annapolis MD
2nd - Jack Ware, Leesburg VA
1st - Kim Eckley, Frederick MD
The Keystone State Pod wishes to thank everyone who helped make this event a success - the staff at KClinger's, cooks, judges, table monitors, everyone. There are too many to mention individually here, but we couldn't have done it without them - they kept things running smoothly, kept everyone happy and made sure that everyone enjoyed the event.” (Lew Wheeling)

Hut Brown asks that you do not send him any emails for the next two weeks. His computer has retired with a permanent disability. The replacement will arrive in about ten days.
“LAST CALL! I will be closing out the Cooks Register files at the Great Peppers meeting. So, if you want to be listed in the Social Directory - Name & Address List of chili folks & friends, you must contact me by September 9th. To assure the information is correct as I can get it, I will be deleting names of folks who have not purchased the 2005-6 edition (white cover with a US flag) or one of the new editions to be delivered at Terlingua (or mailed if you are not there) or have contacted me in the past few months. Cost of the book is $20 or $2 for a full listing (payable to Goat Gap Gazette), sent to: PO Box J, Waxahachie, TX 75168-0356. Information can be sent via e-mail by filling out the form on the web site, or just an e-mail with the appropriate information. 972-351-0022 or goatgapgazette@sbcglobal.net or www.goatgap.com” (Debbie Eiland Turner )
