The first four sets of credentials have arrived for the Great Peppers Meeting. Thanks to the SOTOL, Thousand Trails Whitney, POR, and Sunshine State Pods for their prompt attention to this important paperwork.

“It is almost time for the 23rd Annual Purgatory Creek Pod cookoff that will be held July 15th & 16th on the beautiful San Marcos River. Get your river tubes, chili pot, meat, and chili spices together and come on down. Grounds available for move-in after 12:00 noon on Friday, July 14th. Overnight parking, no hook-ups. Due to the liability insurance concerns, this is an adult only event. There will be a silent auction and raffle. Cook’s meal Friday night, hamburgers provided, side dishes welcome. Saturday night will be pot luck with a salad, sandwich, soup theme. This is a CHILI GRIND ONLY cookoff, entry fee $18. and turn in at 1:00 PM both days. “Please say a little prayer for a speedy recovery for Rita Primeaux Forester. Rita had emergency exploratory surgery on Sunday in Victoria. Doctor said she had a mild heart attack and had to have 4 stents put in. Came home from the hospital yesterday and will be healing and resting for a few weeks. Thanks.” (Peggy Bocanegra)

Had a great two dayer at Bastrop for the River Runner Cook Offs. We wish to thank Crystal and Linda at the American Legion, John Caffey and Jeannette Cardenas for Head Judge, Mike Benold for referee, Dusty DeBerry and his faithful Runners for the good breakfasts both mornings. We had a great time and enjoyed some good comaradie with all the folks and especially our good friends and fellow "Sots", the River Boys.

“This weekend 8&9 Jul is the Summer Fest cookoff's at VFW Post 8315, 1008 FM 78, Schertz, Texas. If you are coming in from IH 10 take FM1518 North until it deadends on FM78 turn right, cookoff is about half a mile up on the right. If you are coming in from IH 35 go South on FM3009 until it deadends at FM78 and then take a right, cookoff is about 3/4 of a mile up on the left. Call C.W. Reese, 210-658-6765 for motel and any other info. There is a cheap motel in Universal City, about a mile up the road. This has turned into a great cookoff. No hookups but plenty of room for RV's. “Hi I wanted to make it a little clearer what Donna and I are doing for our church it is their 50th Anniversary and they are attempting to do much needed repairs we are going to do a chili dog supper for them to help raise money what we need from our chili family is their chili we will be at staples so if you are going PLEASE bring your chili and we will take it with us and a BIG THANKS YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!
