“I contacted Camp Lejune and they have a new facility for wounded troops to rehab and recover. They don't need any pogie bait (sweets) or goodies but are in need of books, magazines, cd's , video games and dvds to help pass the boring times they are going through. To take their minds off their problems for a few minutes if you can spread the work here is address and contact for sending stuff to the Marines recovering. RESULTS & UPCOMINGS

“The Mason Dixon Pod's Annual Polar Bear CCO and Pod Party didn't have the unusually warm weather we had last year but the more typical winter temps didn't keep the cooks, judges and partygoers away. Most of the cooks took up residence in the garage to brew up their prize winning chili. However, there were those "tough guys" from PA that said they could handle cooking outside (Hint: those darn Eagle Fans).

Everyone reported that they not only a great time at the Polar Bear's new location but they were completely stuffed from all the great food and drink!
A big congratulations to the veteran chili cook, James Greer, on his first win of the new chili year! James made the announcement at the end of the party that if he qualifies for Terlingua he will be making plans for his first trip to the "big show." In addition, congrats to Lisa Zimmerman, who placed 2nd...and that was only her second time cooking. Her boyfriend, Phil Martinek, better start watching his back. Ha ha

On a personal note, we want to thank everyone for all their help to make sure the cookoff, judging and party went off without a hitch. A special thanks to Christine Johnson and new "helper" Cecelia Geise for helping with judging, to Rex Dillingham for acting as short-order cook for the day and Lisa Stronsky and Karen Westerman for keeping the kitchen in order and the hot food coming. We couldn't have done it without you!

And the Chili winners :
1st- James Greer - Nottingham,MD
2nd Lisa Zimmerman - Forest Hill, MD
3rd Doug Johnson - Harrisburg, PA
4th Lew Wheeling - Reading, PA
5th Chip Welsh - Red Lion, PA
6th Phil Martinek - Fallston, MD
7th Brian Smith - Pylesville, MD
8th Christine Johnson - Harrisburg, PA
9th Pat Jakelski - Towson, MD
10th Sarah Huber - Kingsville, MD”

……and a good time was had by all. That about sums up the weekend at the Kingsland American Legion. There were cookoffs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, a great breakfast each morning, a cooks party on Friday, a plentiful supper on Saturday, a New Year’s Eve dance, and lots of fun and foolishness. Now, we all have to try to recover in time for next weekend’s cookoffs.
