“It is good news coming out of Dallas today. Roland Regeon’s daughter, Stacy, went into surgery about 1:30 am after a bit of a delay in getting the heart to the hospital because of the horrible ice on the roads. It went very well and the new heart is in and pumping on its own. She had just opened her eyes and began to talk when Roland got there. Thank you all for your concern and your prayers. It is still a long road but it is looking good.” (Lyndia Regeon)

“Sue Yates tripped and fell Monday and broke her left knee. Then she lost her balance on her crutches and fell backward Wednesday and broke her right hip. She is in room 568 at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo. Her home address is 2206 Wilson Street, San Angelo, TX 76901 if anyone wants to send her get well wishes. Don't know how long she will be in hospital.” (Janita Hinds)

“Where's My Cookoff? Several people have contacted CASI Directors because a particular cookoff they were interested in did not apppear in the December Terlingua Trails. First of all; if you have concerns or questions about cookoff results, please contact the CASI TallyMaster, me.

Please be aware that November is not a normal month. Normally, parerwork received around the first of the month would easily make the deadline to appear in the next month's Terlingua Trails. As I said, November is not a normal month. Qualification numbers one through ten are reserved for the top ten TICC cooks. For this reason, TICC is the first cookoff entered in the new Chili Year. This creates a pretty large backlog of cookoffs to process after TICC.

Too much of a good thing. This year the referees were very successful sending in October cookoffs promptly, which resulted in a 66 cookoff backlog at TICC time. My goal is to get all the cookoffs received prior to TICC entered for the December Trails. There was a large number of cookoffs received on Monday, October 31, 2005. Unfortunately, they did not make the deadline the December Trails. I'm sorry, but I just ran out of time. Next year I expect to meet my goal, or exceed it. The problems encountered with the new tallymaster program on CIS will be solved by next November.

At this point, all complete cookoff paperwork that has been received has been entered in the CIS. If you are wondering if a certain cookoff has been received, I invite you to visit the CASI website. Any CASI member can access the CIS database and view the cookoff schedule. If you want to know why a particular cookoff was not in the December Terlingua Trails, please call me at 630-879-7934, or email at
CASItally1@comcast.net.” (Bill Pierson)

Johnson City’s Lights Spectacular parade featured a float promoting the Texas Men’s State Cookoff. Jimmy Taylor, Barbara Taylor, and I called upon all of our float designing creativity to gather Christmas decorations, neighborhood kids, and Barbara’s mom. Our well lit float spread holiday warmth and also reminded everyone that TMS will take place on March 25 and, this year, will also include the Texas Men’s State Barbecue Championship.

“I would appreciate any donations of throw down chili between now and Super Bowl Sunday. Last year at the Austin Elks Lodge I served chili at their Super Bowl party and the people loved it along with the Lodge making some money for their charities. So they want to do it again this year - the Lodge is great with CASI members and provides the SOT POD with a meeting place. If you are in the Austin area on February 5th your invited to watch the game at the Elks - Tailgate party begins at 3:17pm.” (Ken Rodd)

It is a great tool for positive publicity for CASI Cookoffs and could lead to other doors being opened for you such as sponsorships, etc.” (Ken Rodd)
